Legal service is particularly appropriate for persons who are either disadvantaged or extremely vulnerable due to financial constraints. This service helps to protect their rights and safeguards them through free legal means. Problems that people face could be minor or major, anything from family disputes such as child custody to employee-related issues like unfair treatment at work to housing discrimination to immigration and possible deportation. All problems can be divided into two broad categories: legal problems which are civil in nature such as personal debts and family breakdown and then legal problems which are criminal in nature such as unlawful arrests, police investigations and the prospect of imprisonment stemming from false criminal charges.

A recent innovation is pre-paid legal service. I thought there are only pre-paid electricity meters and pre-paid cellphone call cards. This concept was pioneered in the United States of America and has yet to catch on in other countries. Now there is pre-paid legal service just as there is pre-paid insurance. I have no idea on the level of service these pre-paid lawyers provide but a consumer has peace of mind.
